Double Face; The Prayer; Brave; Guess
Rita Abou Eid's love for photography started when she was 14 years old, collecting passport photographs. She came to Doha in 2010 as a photographer. "No one else can see the way I see nor understand what I feel except my camera and my lenses", she writes.
Rita's photographs for Building a Vision depict working men in old Doha neighbourhoods, where they live in houses recently vacated by local families in favour of more affluent suburbs. Her studies show a side of life now less prominent in the city, as old buildings are razed to make way for modern developments. Melancholy in approach, the works acts as an antidote to the images of modernity now more associated with Qatar.
