The waves of construction that Qatar has witnessed in recent years offer rich opportunities for photographers interested in architectural photography and the portrayal of place, twelve of whom are exhibited in this section.
Photographers in the first group adopt different interpretative approaches to the depiction of Qatar's new cityscapes. Maha Alathba and Ali Saifaldeen, for example, celebrate the picturesque qualities of the metamorphosis that has transformed their country, instilling in their images a sense of pride at being witnesses to and part of the process.
Other photographers choose to concentrate on the abstract qualities and graphic impact of the strong lines, surfaces and shapes of the masterpieces of global modernism that now make up the Doha skyline.
