Qatar Unfiltered
Michiel de Lange has worked in the Middle East since 2004. He began photographing in the 1980s with an Asahi Pentax inherited from his father. He considers himself a 'travelling street photographer' and has been influenced by the New Topographics movement, in its exploration of the photographic potential of the man-altered landscape.
Michiel's interest in street photography has shifted towards the documentation of scenes behind the glamorous facades and iconic representations of Qatar seen in the media. Qatar Unfiltered is an ongoing project that records the subtle beauty of the colour and forms of lost and forgotten sites not generally accessible to regular visitors.
