Contemporary art is offering us more and more opportunities to interact on the most varied levels of perception. And we are proud to offer you a new format – moving mediation – as a means of encountering art in a novel way!

The new exhibition at Manege – Stillness. Russian Classical Sculpture from Shubin to Matveyev – encourages us to include our body in the continuous dialogue of the arts within the exhibition: the precisely arranged opera music, the specific way of organising the space itself, and of course the sculptures – three-dimensional, imposing, and expressive. We invite you in the moving mediation to embark on a personal journey and experience new sensations. Unlike a typical art mediation, which includes discussions and a search for the meaning behind the art, in a moving mediation the participants work with their own bodies, learning to listen to themselves and their tactile sensations and to fine-tune their bodily perception. This exploration of the exhibition space and search for one’s own place within it is an expression of the impressions gained from moving and a discovery of one’s own ideas arising from the encounter with the exhibits.

Participants will be able to use the information they obtain during the mediation when interacting with classical and contemporary art in the future.

The moving mediation at Manege will be conducted by Alyona Ageyeva, physical theatre director, independent artist and performer, and curator of Manege’s inclusive programmes.

Please note that this format will not provide you with comprehensive information about the exhibition, artists, and works. Before or after the mediation participants may want to examine the exhibition independently. We also recommend that you wear comfortable clothing so that you will be able to move freely. The next moving mediations will be:
- April 25 at 15:00
- May 5 at 18:30
- May 12 at 18:30

Cost of participation in the moving mediation is 800 roubles per person, which includes entry to the exhibition. Each session will have no more than 7 participants. The maximum number of participants in each group is 7, and the mediation will last at least 1.5 hours. There are no discounts available. Before purchasing tickets, we ask that you carefully read the rules for visiting the exhibition hall.
