On September 30, Manege hosted a lecture by Aleksandr Kapitonov, entitled “The ethical design of robots and artificial intelligence”.
Maybe you’ve never even noticed how robots are becoming part of our lives. However, today many science fiction stories are gradually becoming reality. In many ways machines are already defining our lifestyle and preferences. How can we make sure that their influence is both specific and useful? It was for exactly this purpose that scientists created the IEEE Standard for Ethically Aligned Design, which has given consideration to a huge number of situations – even the most intimate. This was the theme of the discussion at Manege.
The speaker, Aleksandr Kapitonov, is a professor of robonomics, and dean and docent at the Department of Info-Communicational Technology at ITMO University. He is the co-founder of a number of international projects in the field of industrial robotic technology. Aleksandr’s main research focus is at the conjunction of robotic technology, network technology, and the interaction between humans and machines. You can watch the lecture on our YouTube channel.
