The subject of the fourth symposium devoted to the matters of current interest of the modern art will be «East – West»: cultural crossings, influences, and communications in the modern art. Leading culture experts of the Middle and Far East, and Asia will gather to discuss the contemporary art of the East within the framework of global trends, and also the relationship of modern art cultures of the East and West.

The meeting will consist of two parts: experience of implemented cultural projects and interaction of cultures.

Moderator – Semyon Mikhailovsky, Head of Repin St. Petersburg State Academic Institute of Art, Sculpture and Architecture , Commissioner of the Russian Pavilion for the Venice Biennale of Arts and Venice Biennale of Architecture.

Speakers: Sheikha Maryam Hassan Mohammed Al-Thani (Curator and Photography Festival Manager, Qatar Museums), Sheikha Reem Al Thani (Director of Exhibitions, Qatar Museums), Subodh Gupta (Artist), Paul Alezraa (Director Avesta Group), Maria Menshikova (Specialist in Chinese art, senior research scientist at the Oriental Department of the State Hermitage Museum).

The symposium will be held prior to the opening of the large exhibition project «Qatar Contemporary: Art and Photography».
