This time we'll focus on Painting and Music. It’ll be an interesting encounter with the world of sound, colour and science!
Leonardo da Vinci, one of the great Masters of the Renaissance, called music a sister of painting. These two types of art have always developed in parallel and frequently inspired each other. We’ll show the paintings that were created under musical influence and complete the story with musical pieces that were composed thanks to paintings.
Kids will learn that music has colours and what color hearing is. We’ll play color music and reveal the secret the notes: each of them has its own color!
You may ask what does science have to do with it?
Over several centuries, art hasn't been completely devoid of scientific approach. Starting from Renaissance, artists have been studying natural science – chemistry, biology and anatomy. It helped them with recipes for paints and made their works more realistic.
Same way, a contemporary sound artist must know his or her way around a whole range of disciplines: study of instruments, acoustics and electric acoustics, software and circuit engineering, perceptual psychology and instrumentation.
And it was the scientists who proved the correlation between colours and music. You can find out more about that at Kids Breakfast in Manege. Guests of the Breakfast will dive deeper into the subject at the SOUNDART: The Space of the Sound. We’ll attend the exhibition at the end of our meeting.
Kids and their parents will enjoy a special tour of the exhibition. Children will get a chance to play unconventional musical instruments.
Ekaterina Kadyrova will make sure music in the background will help our young artists create their paintings. And artist Natalia Roshko will get inspired by the music and turn it into an oil painting, which will become the prize in our draw.
But that’s not all!
We do remember about our youngest guests. And they’ll get something special, too: face painting!
And what is breakfast without treats? Guess what? We'll have that as well.
Breakfast and exhibition ticket: 500 rubles (child and adult). You don’t need to buy a regular ticket to Manege.
