On August 25, Manege hosted a lecture by Alisa Prudnikova, entitled “Overcoming Immortality: Calls to Action from the Ural Industrial Biennale”. The New Nature project raises questions of eternal life inside the network and tells of man’s striving to immortalize himself in the virtual world and obtain eternal life in the digital realm. Immortality, shown through the prism of modern art, was also the main theme of the 5th Ural Industrial Biennale, held in 2019 in Yekaterinburg. The artists looked at the themes of life and death from new perspectives and presented their definitive visions of vital matters. During the lecture, Alisa Prudnikova discussed how art in the global context approaches the theme of immortality.
The speaker, Alisa Prudnikova, is the commissioner and artistic director of the Ural Industrial Biennale of Contemporary Art and director of strategic programs for the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Art. She is one of the leading experts in in Russia on regional cultural policy and the art industry. From 2017 to 2019 she was the director of regional development for the Rosizo State Center for Contemporary Art (ROSIZO-GTsSI), expanding the network of interaction between organizations in 8 regions of the country. From 2005 to 2016 Alisa was director of the Ural branch of NCCA.
