April 3 – Manege hosted the second concert of the Open Orchestra Project. Open Orchestra is a joint project between Manege and Tavrichesky Symphony Orchestra conducted by Mikhail Golikov. The audience could immerse themselves into the musical performance under minimal lighting and at a minimal distance from the musicians. Our guests got a unique chance to cross the line between a spectator and a participant. The seats were placed practically within the orchestra.
Program:
Beethoven - Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor (Ivan Kachkin, a soloist and rising star, 12 years old)
Valery Gavrilin – the ballet Anyuta (fragments)
Isaac Schwatz - Nakanune (The Day Before)
Sergey Rachmaninov - Symphony No.2 (fragments)
Eduard Artemyev - At Home Among Strangers.
April 3 marks one year since the terrorist attack in the St. Petersburg subway. The Open Orchestra Concert will feature a piece by Murat Kabardokov composed in memory of all the victims of terror.
The first concert of the Open Orchestra Project took place on January 19. Tavrichesky Symphony Orchestra together with Polina Osetinskaya performed for the visually impaired audience, as well as for guests with other disabilities.
