On 3 July at 20:00 (Moscow time) we invite you to join our second online film screening: "Get the Picture". It will take place on our YouTube channel .
Manege has teamed up with publishing company Klaudberri to bring you a series of free online film screenings to mark our new exhibition «As They See Us. A Portrait of Russia by the Magnum Agency».
This film provides an overview of an entire era through the life of one person – renowned American photojournalist John G. Morris, who both witnessed and was involved in a huge number of key events in the 20th century. It was Morris who published Robert Capa’s photos of the D-Day Normandy landings in Life magazine, as well as Eddie Adams’ harrowing image of the execution of a Vietnamese man on the front page of The New York Times. The picture editor not only talks about his life, but gives his views on the profession as a whole.
The film will be shown in English with Russian subtitles. Duration: 1 hour 12 minutes.
The Russian language subtitles for the film were created by Klaudberri to commemorate the release of Howard Chapnick’s book "Truth Needs no Ally: Inside Photojournalism" in Russian.
You can browse our film screening partner Klaudberri’s wide range of Russian-language books on photojournalism, the history of Magnum Photos, and the agency’s photographers on the Podpisnye Izdaniya website.
