On July 23, Timofey Glinin will deliver a lecture at Manege on the topic Neurogadgets of Today and Tomorrow.
Neurogadgets – special devices that interact with the human brain directly – have taken the world by storm in the past decades. There are already neurogadgets that help improve concentration, attain better workout results, or learn a foreign language faster. The technology is used to enhance gaming experiences, assist in meditation, fight depression, or even have lucid dreams. Technology is on the verge of allowing people to communicate by brainwaves and establishing direct brain-to-internet connectivity.
We will discuss the technology behind the neurogadgets, studies regarding their feasibility, and risks posed by the use of these types of devices. Glinin will explain how neurons work, encephalography, and neural stimulation in the simplest possible terms. We will also discuss why none other than Elon Musk has made neurogadgets one of his priorities.
Timofey Glinin is a Candidate of Biology with particular expertise in neurobiology and technological methods of extending and improving human life. He is the head of the neuro-tech project Brainstorm Neural Stimulator and professor in the Genetics Department at St. Petersburg State University.
