On Tuesday 9 April, Manege will host an instrumental concert from the series “Music of the 20th Century: The Great and the Terrible”. The Symphony Orchestra of St. Petersburg, under the direction of Sergei Stadler, presents the programme, "Shostakovich. Mahler. Last Symphonies." The fates of these musicians are undeniably linked; Shostakovich is, in many ways, Mahler’s spiritual successor. The last compositions of these two composers, as different as they may seem, are each about eternal values, and at the same time, are deeply personal and intimate.
The programme includes:
–– Mahler: Adagio from Symphony No. 10
––Shostakovich: Symphony No. 15 a major, op. 141
1. Allegretto
2. Adagio––Largo (Attacca)
3. Allegretto
4. Adagio––Allegretto
Tickets can be purchased at Manege’s ticket offices on the day of the concert.
The concert begins at 19:00.
