What does the work of AES+F share with liturgy, vast academic paintings, the films of Andy Warhol, fireworks and light art festivals, and the videos of Bill Viola and Matthew Barney? And what is the nature of its uniqueness? Alexey Boyko will tackle these questions in a lecture which will take place at Manege as part of the AES+F. Predictions and Revelations exhibition.
Throughout the centuries, art which mesmerises and art which compels the viewer into action have complemented one another. Against the backdrop of a performative upheaval caused by modern culture, the art of AES+F is viewed as among the most relevant and convincing examples of mesmerising art.
Alexey Boyko holds a PhD in art history. He is a teacher and Russian State Prize winner in literature and art.
Admission to Mesmerising Art is free. However, the number of spaces is limited and advance registration is required. Visitors are recommended to view the AES+F. Predictions and Revelations exhibition before the lecture. The exhibition is held in partnership with MTS.
