A contemporary author from Transbaikalia, member of the Union of Artists of Russia, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts, Dashi created a collection of artistic images in the "eastern" style, filling them with the semantics of folk myths and legends, reflexes of Siberian shamanism and iconography of the culture of Buddhism. Syncretism of influences in his art is quite organic, like the culture of modern Buryatia in its various manifestations, including visual art.
"Meditation" as a device for the inner personal development, as a spiritual comprehension of the world, is the theme of the exhibition. The sculpture with the same name is a figure of a wrestler sitting in the traditional lotus position before the fight. It seems that all of a sudden a short moment of struggle will occur and the viewer will comprehend the moment of spiritual illumination and physical perfection.
Dashi Namdakov's works attract attention with high energy of creative impulses, professional skills, high quality of art casting in bronze. His art is highly rewarded in Russia and abroad.
Dashi Namdakov (born in 1967) – has held more than 30 exhibitions, including those with museums, on the basis of scientific concepts dedicated to the study of Eurasian traditions (State Museum of the East, Beijing Museum of World Art, State Historical Museum Museum, State Hermitage).
For the series of exhibitions in Russian museums, the author received the Prize of the Government of Russia (2009).
The unique author's style allowed Dashi to create monumental compositions that expressed features of cultures of the most diverse people of Russia: Golden Shoriya, Kemerovo Region; Kazan, Tatarstan; The Center of Asia and Royal Hunting, Republic of Tyva, and a number of works for Transbaikalia and the Baikal region. "Khanshaim" sculpture is installed in a square in Kazakhstan and is dedicated to the ancient history of Eurasia. For the sculpture "Little Buddha" the author was awarded the National Prize of the Government of the Republic of Buryatia (2013).
Dashi Namdakov's art demonstrates contemporary culture of Russia, its brightness and diversity, courage of search and attention to it throughout the world. Dashi's works "Genghis Khan" (2011) and "She-Guardian" (2013) were installed in London. The sculpture "Royal Hunting" received award at the international festival "Versilia and the World" and was installed in the square of an Italian town Pietrasanta. Several personal exhibitions were held in the United States, France, Finland, Tokyo, etc.
Exhibition "Meditation" is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the author, it is both an original creative report of the master and an attempt to draw the attention of the audience to the art of the eastern outskirts of our country, its rich potential and unique content, in which we will take inspiration for many more centuries.
Around 30 sculptures as well as graphics (drawing and prints") and objects of decorative art will be shown at the exhibition.
