The international symphony orchestra Tavrichesky follows the heritage path of the Tavricheskaya Singers Chamber established by the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Countries to commemorate the 220th Anniversary of the Tavrichesky Palace. Its prototype was the ensemble created for Count Grigory Potyemkin. Acclaim among professionals and audiences alike accompanied the Mikhail Golikov led orchestra from the very start.
The orchestra brings together young virtuoso performers from the most talented graduates of the St Petersburg State Conservatoire named after N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov. The orchestra is an artistic union and it takes charge of organzing their concerts, beneftis and charity events as well as taking part is cultural projects.
Along with famous pieces by Bach, Mahler, Shostakovich and Schnitke the orchestra performed music of Dzhabrail Khaupa, a contemporary composer from Kabardino-Balkaria and of Murat Kabardokov, a Northern Caucasus-born composer from St Petersburg.
