Ruti Direktor, the curator of Contemporary Art at the Tel-Aviv Museum of Art will come to Manege to speak about contemporary Israeli artists who use of performance as a way of reflecting on Israel's complex history, as well as its ceremonies and rituals.
About the speaker: Ruti Direktor is the curator of Contemporary Art at the Tel-Aviv Museum of Art (opened in 1932). Working in this position since 2014, Ruti did not only help direct the new department, but also successfully curated an entire series of projects, created in collaboration with artists such as Elmgreen & Dragset, Fiona Tan, Tom Friedman, Loris Gréaud, Noam Enbar, Taryn Simon, and others. Among Ruti’s priorities are performance and video art, international collaboration, and the expansion of museum’s collection of contemporary art.
The event is organised in collaboration with the Consulate General of Israel in St. Petersburg.
The lecture will be led in English with consecutive interpretation. Participation is free with prior registration.
