We were thinking what would be a good start for our meetings: what would be interesting for kids in art? And then we remembered that kids really like masks and face painting and pretending to be all kinds of characters and heroes. Their first encounter with a mask happens fairly early – though a fairy tale, or a cartoon, or a comic book or a myth. That’s how the topic of this meeting was born: The Mask Phenomenon.
We're in to meet the amazing culture of a mask. It can be fairy, carnival or ritual. But mystical and fantastic guising is as simple as it seems. We’ll get to know such concepts as totem, character, mimicry and impersonation. We’ll see how the culture of imitation appeared and get the point of replacing the actual person.
The event will be hosted by Vladimir Korolkov, a graphic designer, artist and photographer. At the end of the meeting, we’ll enjoy a master class on making our common mask in the shape of a butterfly using the collage technique.
And of course, we haven't forgotten about our youngest guests. They will enjoy a simple face painting from our artist.
And what is a breakfast without treats? Our friends have taken care of it: Yanino dairy food (and their Garmonia brand) and delicious donuts from Ginza Pyshechka.
Breakfast and exhibition ticket: 500 rubles (child and adult). You don’t need to buy a regular ticket to Manege.
All the money raised at this event will donated to Zvyozdy Detyam Charity Foundation.
