Frequently we here about the “power of art”. But can power reflect in art?
Chinese Army is a special exhibition that will get us talking about traditions and innovation in depicting masculinity right by pieces created by Chinese artists. How does one show valour and heroism on canvas?
How did battle painting genre develop in Russia and in other countries?
Is adjacency and interconnection of art and war even possible? Does an artist need to paint things that are one step away from cruelty? And finally, what and how can be opposed to evil in the world of high art?
In our new talk, we'll try to take a look at images of valour in our culture, in the European and the Chinese one. And we’ll try to define how different they are. We'll touch upon the symbolism of the Asian mentality and see stranger things there.
The meeting will be hosted by Vladimir Korolkov. He must be familiar to frequent attendees of kids talks on contemporary art and plein-air practice classes on artist’s reflective observation.
Our earlier meetings embraced elementary school kids. This talk will be more complex, so we welcome kids aged 12 and up.
