An online lecture by Annette Arlander, covering the topic of “Holding Nature: Meetings with Trees”, will be given on September 22 as part of the educational programme for Recycle Group`s exhibition New Nature.

About the speaker: Annette Arlander is an artist, researcher and a pedagogue, one of the pioneers of Finnish performance art and a trailblazer of artistic research. She lives and works in Helsinki. Graduated from the department of directing at the Theatre Academy, Doctor of Arts (Theatre and Drama). Professor of Performance Art and Theory at Theatre Academy 2001-2013. Professor of artistic research at University of the Arts Helsinki 2015-16. Professor in performance, art and theory at Stockholm University of the Arts 2018-2019. AVEK, Media Art Prize 2014, State Prize for Multidisciplinary art 2018.
Brief artist’s statement:
Performing landscape is the overall theme for my artistic practice, which often involves site-specific work, performances for camera, recorded speech, video installations and various experiments concerning the environment, and which takes place in the border zone between performance art, media art and environmental art.
The online lecture by Annette Arlander, covering the topic of “Holding Nature: Meetings with Trees”, will be devoted to her careful and loving ways of speaking with ’Nature’.
The online lecture will begin at 19:00 (UTC +3) and last for 1,5 hours.
The discussion will be conducted over Zoom. Participation is free, but you must first register and install the Zoom platform. An hour before the meeting, you will receive a link by e-mail (sent to the address indicated at registration) through which you can join the conference. You will be able to address questions to speaker throughout the conversation.
