Growing-up Art is a program that targets kids from elementary and middle schools. During the trial run we attempted to figure if 9 year-olds respond to the formal language of conceptual vision of contemporary artists and is possible to awaken their curiosity without boring museum talk?
The first meeting was set up like a game that served as an introduction to primary understanding of contemporary art. It was important to us that the kids won’t be afraid of their own “I don’t like” and feel free to ask questions about “I don’t get this”.
As an illustration to the freedom of expression the kids could play sculptures on the spontaneous ground. Photographing became an amatuer attempt to turn this into an artistic event and an attempt to free the perception of artistic means.
