Manege is to host another event featuring the AES+F art collective, this time as participants at a discussion entitled Art as a Catalyst of the Future. The event will examine predictions made by artists in the context of scientific forecasts and discoveries, education, and the socio-cultural life of a city.
The event will take place as part of the AES+F. Predictions and Revelations exhibition, which is running at Manege until 22 September. The exhibition primarily revolves around premonitions of the future, which is a theme present in much of AES+F’s work. As genuine visionaries, the collective not only holds up a mirror to the current global situation, but also predicts what awaits us tomorrow.
The event will feature discussions on the artists’ alarmist predictions and the social role of art; the visualisation of a dream and whether art, like science, has the power to influence and even create the future; modern art and the role of the mentor; and art’s ability to guide scientific discoveries or social change in a city.
Participants:
– Tatiana Arzamasova, AES+F
– Lev Evzovich, AES+F
– Semyon Mikhailovsky, Rector of the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts; Commissioner of the Russian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale
– Vladimir Knyaginin, Vice Governor of St. Petersburg
