St Petersburg Union of Artists in turning 85 years old in 2017. The union is a genuine successor and heir to the traditions of the Imperial Society for the Encouragement of Arts founded in the city in 1820. During the years in operation the Union became an indispensible part of the cultural and public landscape. Currently, 4128 professional artists are members of the Union.
The exhibition in Manege covers a wide range of works from both experienced professionals and the up and coming artists. The youngest participant of the exhibition is 24, the eldest is 94.
Nearly all types of visual art objects are represented: painting, sketching, photography, sculpture, ceramics, poster art, iconography, restoration, theatrical and cinematic art, monumental art, jewelry, applied art, art history. Genres include portrait, landscape, still life and interior design. All in all there are over 2000 exhibits.
The exhibition is augmented by a variety of entertainment and educational programs, including seminars and q&a sessions with artists.
